ATECH Vision & Hearing Services provides educational consultation and services for NH students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or deafblind. ATECH Services consultants assist school teams by providing specialized expertise which may not be available in the local school.Our consultants are certified, highly qualified, and experienced teachers of students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or deafblind.Our goal is to help the team ensure the child's access to both communication and the general curriculum.

Our consultants may:

  • serve as liaison between schools, families, and support or medical personnel
  • coach school staff in provision of appropriate accommodations
  • assist with appropriate curriculum modifications
  • provide research-based information
  • observe educational settings and provide recommendations to increase access
  • provide technical assistance to purchase, use, and troubleshoot assistive technology
  • assess the physical/acoustic environment(s)
  • provide regular ongoing consultation to school personnel
  • provide direct services to students with hearing and/or vision loss
  • help plan for and facilitate transitions
  • assist in team meetings, determine appropriate accommodations, and write IEP goals and objectives
  • participate in evaluation planning and selection of assessment tools
  • join the evaluation summary team meetings as a teacher certified in the area of disability
  • assist with the interviewing and hiring of appropriate support staff
  • provide in-services regarding vision and hearing
  • conduct Learning Media Assessments and Functional Vision Assessments
