GREENFIELD, NH – Writer Michael Paul Mason will be our guest speaker as he gives a presentation entitled The Pipeline: Into the Military's Medical Megaride," on Tuesday, October 14th at 3:15 pm at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center.

Michael Paul Mason is a professional writer and journalist. Mason has served as an editor for two literary publications, and has appeared on several national media outlets, including the Lehrer Newshour, CBS News, and NPR's Morning Edition. He currently serves as vice-president of the Brain Injury Association of Oklahoma.

From 2002 through 2007, Mason worked as a brain injury case manager for the Neurologic Rehabilitation Institute at Brookhaven Hospital. Mason traveled to nearly every state in America in an effort to help survivors of severe traumatic brain injury find appropriate treatment. Moved by the heroice struggle of survivors and their families, Mason began collecting stories, which became the groundwork for his first book on non-fiction, Head Cases: Stories of Brain Injury and Its Aftermath.

Mason has built a reputation for noteworthy journalism. When Mason's article in DISCOVER Magazine, Dead Men Walking appeared in mid-February of 2007, it ignited a national debate about the treatment of brain injured soldiers. Mason has since traveled to Iraq to report on healthcare and humanitarian issues.
