Located at the crossroads of the Northeastern United States, the Rensselaer Gateway area is the eastern entry into New York's Capital Region. Historically, the Rensselaer Gateway is considered the birthplace of America's Industrial Revolution; today it is a hub of modern global information businesses. Manyleading high technology companies are headquartered here, along with thousands of small entrepreneurial businesses and a network of university-supported incubator businesses.
The Town of East Greenbush, population 16,000, is located in Southern Rensselaer County. The name "Greenbush" came from the Dutch "Green Bosch" from the pinewoods, which originally covered the land.
