Crotched Mountain Wild Team Roster

CM Wild Team 

 

The Crotched Mountain Wild is made up of employees and friends of Crotched Mountain and the Accessible Recreation and Sports program (CMARS). Formerly the Monadnock Wild, the team is comprised of members who live, or have lived, in the Monadnock area of New Hampshire. 

 

Geoff Garfinkle #44 Defense

Geoff lives in Peterborough, NH and is director of recreation therapy at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield, NH. He has been playing hockey since the age of eight and was on the Jamestown Lakers in Jamestown, NY; Franklin Pierce College Ravens NCAA Division II 1988; Monadnock Wild. He is a coach with the Winchendon Youth Hockey USA Hockey Certified. Geoff is one of the initial team members of the Monadnock Wild (which then became the Crotched Mountain Wild) that "got formed by a bunch of guys playing together in a barn" in Temple, NH in 2003.  Geoff’s favorite player is Gerry “King Kong” Korab of the Buffalo Sabres for no other reason but that “he’s King Kong!”  Geoff’s favorite hockey memory is watching his own children play “this great sport and seeing the game playing a part in their overall development.”

 

Philip Grisafi #4 Left Wing

Phil resides in Bedford, NH and is Vice President of Mosse & Mosse Associates. He has been playing hockey for 43 years playing on teams too numerous to list!  He was founder of the Monadnock Wild which was renamed the Crotched Mountain Wild in 2011 to “reflect the mission of why we are playing and what we are doing to support Crotched Mountain.” Phil’s favorite player is Mark Messier for his leadership and toughness. His favorite hockey memory is being at game 7 of the New York Rangers-Vancouver Canucks Stanley Cup finals at Madison Square Garden.

 

Tim Hogue #18 Left and Right Wing

Tim comes to us from Warner, NH. He works at Crotched Mountain School as a Community Transition Coordinator. He has been playing hockey for more than 50 years which includes peewees, bantams, midgets, house leagues and travel teams through Woburn Youth Hockey Junior Varsity and Varsity high school. He played in men’s leagues during and after college and the men’s league amateur hockey in Kentucky. For the past 30+ years he has played in a league in Ashburnham, MA at Cushing Academy. Tim’s favorite player is Bobby Orr as it was the first player he felt “could do it all!” His best hockey memory is of winning the equivalent of the Stanley Cup when playing for the Rangers in AMHL in Kentucky.  

 

Reuben Lyons #8 Anything but Goalie

Reuben resides in Peterborough, NH and works as a Physical Therapist Assistant at Keene Physical Therapy in Sports Medicine. Reuben began playing hockey right away, “lacing ‘em up for the first time shortly after learning to walk, about 22 years ago!” He began skating on a frozen bog, a short sled ride down the railroad bed from home. He played as a mite, squirt, pee-wee and bantam in Henniker Youth Hockey. He played for four years at Contoocook Valley Regional High School and skated for the Laconia Leafs in th AJHL (Atlantic Junior Hockey League). Reuben’s favorite player is Terry O’Reilly and Brad Marchand because they are both “two-way” players who “play the game with tenacity, skill, occasional intelligence and frequent reckless abandonment – my style exactly!” Reuben’s favorite hockey memory is as a senior helping to earn Contoocook Valley Regional High School win their first DIII championship in 2004 defeating Kennett High at the Whittemore Center in Durham, NH.

 

Gary McRae #77 Forward

Gary lives in Westmoreland, NH and works in sales at Monadnock Flooring. He has played hockey for 30 years and was involved in Keene Youth Hockey and the program at Keene High School. His favorite player is Ray Bourque because of his “years of hard work and dedication to hockey.” Gary’s best hockey memory is seeing his son score his first goal.

 

Stan Newsham #19 Wing and Center

Stan resides in Peterborough, NH and works as a Senior Claims Analyst at Peerless Insurance Company. He has been playing hockey since he was 4 years-old and his teams include the P.A.T. (Pepperell Ashby Townsend) Youth Hockey Association where he was a mite and midget, the North Middlesex Regional High School Varsity Hockey Team and numerous men’s league teams. Bobby Orr is Stan’s favorite player and he has good memories of watching him as a kid with his dad saying, “The skill and grace he displayed has never been matched.” Stan’s favorite hockey memory was when his squirt team travelled to Plattsburgh, NY and played in a tournament where the majority of the teams were from Canada. His team was clearly the underdog but ended up winning the tournament. He said, “It was a thrill to show the other teams and players what a bunch of country bumpkins can do on the ice!”

 

Harry Payne #2 Goalie

Harry resides in Antrim, NH and owns HMP Fence Services. He has been playing hockey for 50+ years on many different teams. Most notably, Harry played on the Boston Merchants which was a travel team that played in tournaments throughout the northeast and Canada. Harry’s favorite professional player is Bobby Orr as he’s “the best defenseman ever!” His favorite hockey memory is took place while playing for the Boston Merchants. They beat Ron’s Mobile 2-1 despite the fact that Ron’s had two ex-Bruins playing for them – Don Awrey and Don Marcotte!

 

Jeff Radin #21 Left Wing

Jeff lives in Milford, NH and is the Director of IT at SDE, Inc. He has been playing hockey for 40 years and played for the Wheatfield Blades, the Nichols School and the Fitchburg USA Hockey Club. His favorite player is Gilber Perrault of the ‘70s Buffalo Sabres because “he could take it end-to-end, score and make it all look easy!” Jeff’s best hockey memory is having a shutout as a mite (10-0) using a players stick instead of a goalie stick. He said that his hockey career has been “all downhill from there!”

 

Kit Rautio #4 Defense

Kit resides in the town of Peterborough, NH and is the Owner/President of Residential Cadd Design Services, LLC. He has been skating since he was 3 years old and on a hockey team since the age of 14. He has played on a team in Kaiserslautern, Germany and at Conval High School. He has played on the Fitchburg Wallopers and various men’s league teams. Kit’s favorite player is Bobby Orr because he plays the same position as Orr did. His first of two favorite hockey memories is scoring 2 goals in a game in Germany in the span of 8 seconds on the same exact play from center ice on a face-off. The other favorite is winning the league championship with a men’s team that both he and his father played on together.

 

Bill Sweeney #3 Wing

Bill lives in Somersworth, NH and works as a Sales Manager for Engineered Wood Products at Coastal Forest Products.  He has been playing hockey since he was 5 years-old including the Hooters in New Jersey for two years. Bill’s present favorite player is Dave Krejci and admires him for his passing ability and “setting up goals for other teammates.” Bill’s best hockey memory is all the games he was able to attend in the 70s when his dad worked for the Bruins for 6 years and had season tickets for 12 years. As an aside, Bill graduated from Saint Anselm College in 1987.

 

Parker Wheeler #38 Goalie

Parker lives in Francestown, NH and is a student at the University of New Hampshire where he’s majoring in Sports Studies and Communication. He has been playing hockey for 16 years and his teams include the Henniker Huskies, Concord Capitals and Con-Val High School where he was awarded MVP/All State Honorable Mention in his junior year and first team All-State in his senior year. Parker’s favorite player is Henrik Lundqvist because of his “form, hard work and determination.” Parker’s favorite professional hockey memory is Nathan Horton’s Game 7 over-time goal against Montreal in 2011 and his best personal memory is defeating Somersworth 3-2 in his team’s senior game.

 

Additional players include Adam Aho, Mark Leger, Brent Patterson, Josh Sipe, Chris Stroshine and Scott Tucker.
