GREENFIELD, NH- May 14th may have been a dreary, wet day outside, but the fans turned out in force as the Contoocook Cougars took on the Crotched Mountain Eagles in a friendly game of wiffle ballinside the school gym.
Phys. Ed. Teacher Don Tilton was coach for the Eagles while Carlie Wardell of The Contoocook School coached the Cougars. Armand Comtois was the umpire and John Young the sports announcer giving play-by-play commentary.
The bases were loaded early in the game as the Eagles made some runs. The Cougars quickly caught up in the second inning and both teams kept the competition tight. The spectators in the stands knew to duck when either Nathan or Carl were on deck to bat. Time after time, both players made grand slam plays that put the homemade duct tape ball over the heads of the fans.
The game was full of excitement from beginning to end. The teams were not concerned about the score. They were focused on playing hard and having a good time.
Join us in two weeks when the Cougars play the Eagles on the softball field Friday, May 28th at 10:20am.
