"An entire generation is seeing the biggest technological advances from sending astronauts to the moon in 1969 to GPS that can tell us where we are going in our cars. Technology has influenced the way we live the way we work, and generally in our everyday lives. If you were to tell the previous generation of scientists that one day they would have ability to produce prosthetic limbs for returning soldiers and houses that can be controlled by a voice commands piece, they would be amazed. We owe the scientific pioneers a debt of gratitude and of respect.
If it wasn't for these brave pioneers, medical science and technology assistance would not be possible. We would not be able to produce solar energy or the potential ability to have hydrogen cars, which could break the biggest addiction that America has to date, to fossil fuels, which is threatening to change the very climate that we live in!
I am using a device by the name of Dragon NaturallySpeaking, which allows me to write without struggling to form sentences. This is just one of the many pieces of technology that make my and many other people's lives easier and more productive. My life would be a lot more complicated without the help of technology. Without this technology, I would function not as well, and not as I should. It would be very hard for me to work as efficiently as I do. It would also be harder for me to write papers for school.
I guess you might say that one of my hobbies is to write speeches.
This is a very complicated process, but a process, you might say, that helps me to express my passion for majestic words. I am a person of many contradictions. I am very wordy and talkative and yet very reserved when it comes to my emotions. Actually, I am a young man with a lot of contradictions. An individual with a lot of opinions.
So this technology, which changes my thoughts into written words, gives me a lot of personal freedom. I would not be able to express my opinions in as much articulation without speech-to-text technology. This would make me feel very alone in the world and frustrated that I could not express my opinions to other people.
I have a lot to say. I just need the technology in place to make it possible. What's to say we will not see even greater technological advances within the next 2 years? I would like to see the advancement in the treatment of cerebral palsy or other neurological disorders. That would be my biggest hope for the next generation and who's to say that it wouldn't come true?"
